Since the horrifying earthquakes in Haiti, the horrifying Hurricane Katrina, and of course, 9/11, one has to  think about when the next disaster will strike.

Whether you are home or on the road, it is critical that you protect your family from a calamity or emergency. Disaster preparedness supplies are crucial whether on a trip or at home, so why not be prepared? And in the event of a horrific disaster, the need to survive becomes more critical than ever .

Always be sure to prepare yourself for any emergency with much needed survival kits and other disaster preparedness supplies.  While fire and smoke safety are a  dire concern for your house, there are many other times when you should be ready and on guard, just in case. What if you are away from home and find that you are in an emergency situation?  We advocate, when traveling by car, that you always have the proper auto emergency kits handy in case of an accident, injury, breakdown or even an auto fire situation.

A few things most frequently neglected when thinking about disaster preparation is emergency lighting and even the most common, yet necessary first aid kits.  Did you know there are emergency solar lanterns available at affordable prices that can entirely light the way for you if the need arises?  Solar emergency lighting and other lighting kits are also easily obtainable to help you see through a dark or smoke filled situation.  At home, camping, hiking or just about anywhere disaster can strike , you should be ready for the challenge.

Society today is reactionary and so infrequently seems to consider the devastation that any emergency or disaster can bring until it’s too late. Think about it, because you can never be too safe, and perhaps the latest catastrophes around the world will serve as a constant reminder of just how critical it is to be prepared .

So act, don’t simply react.  When the next emergency hits, you’ll be prepared.  Your friends and loved ones will thank you for it.
